Assistant Professor

Mir Fazla Rabby is an assistant professor of Journalism and Media Studies (JMS). He holds a master’s and a bachelor’s in Mass Communication and Journalism from the University of Dhaka. Before joining this position, he worked at American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB), as a lecturer in Media and Mass Communication, till mid-April 2016. Fazla Rabby started his career as a research assistant in the Bangladesh Centre for Development, Journalism and Communication (BCDJC), a media research firm based in Dhaka, in late 2008. Later, he joined Bangla daily Amader Shomoy as copy editor. After a brief stint there, he joined The Daily Star, an English newspaper, in June 2010. He worked there as copy editor till mid-September 2015. Fazla Rabby has published his thesis article entitled “Online news consumption pattern: A survey on Dhaka University students” and research article “South Asian river systems: Environmental and human impacts of dams”. He is interested in media, technology and society.
