FAQ ABOUT JMS
  • How could I get enrolled in JMS?

Admission to this graduate program is competitive. Only top scorers, after fulfilling other conditions, can enroll in four-year BSS course following a written test.

  • When should I start?

As soon as possible after you have appeared for the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examinations.  The results of these exams are usually published in July-August, while the admission tests at Jahangirnagar University are held in November-December.

  • What admissions criteria do you use?

You have to pass Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examinations and have minimum GPA requirements, which are set faculty-wise. The details of the admission process are advertised in newspapers. Also, visit the University website http://www.juniv.edu/ for the information you need about admission.

  • Is there a wait list?

Yes. In the 2016-17 academic sessions, the Department of Journalism and Media Studies (JMS) admitted 45 students, some of whom were from the wait list.

  • Is there an interview?

Yes. But it’s just to check the authenticity of your certificates and other documents. The interview does not influence your admission as long as you have valid documents. In the case of admission, only your written test results shall matter.
